how tiny tush baby cakes was born

Hi, I’m Amanda. A mum, and founder of Tiny Tush Baby Cakes.

Before having my daughter, I had no idea what to buy new parents or what to bring as a gift for baby showers. My go-to gift would usually be a cute little outfit.

Since becoming a parent, I have now been on the receiving end of plenty of cute little outfits which, although adorable, were often the incorrect size for the season, were uncomfortable for my baby to wear or had lots of buttons and press studs making it difficult to dress my baby.

Fast forward four years and two kids later I can now tell you the best baby gifts are those that parents will actually use and help them survive the newborn haze.

With lots of new babies among my friends and family in the last few years there were lots of baby showers to attend and gifts to buy. I wanted to give a gift that would be thoughtful but also practical. This was the beginning of my nappy cake creations and hampers which I filled with essential baby items (like muslin wraps, wash cloths, bibs) that as a new mum I always used and always needed more of.

Designing and creating baby gift hampers soon became my new hobby and creative outlet. I enjoyed creating gifts that not only looked impressive but gifts that new parents would also find useful. I began receiving great feedback from many happy recipients, so much so that Tiny Tush Baby Cakes was born.

Although it was a challenge to start this business while I juggled my roles as a wife, teacher and mum, creating these gifts sparked my creative side and I loved creating something that would be helpful to other mums and parents.
